LITERACY ACTIVITIES:
- Exploring Poetry
- Reading: using picture clues while reading, looking at the first and last letters of a word, recognizing frequently used words (sight words), asking...Does it make sense? Does it sound right? Does it look right?
- Writing: stretching out words and writing the sounds that we hear, using the word wall and classroom resources while writing. Continuing to use the 6 star sentence: 1. Makes sense, 2. Detail, 3. Include punctuation, 4. Use spaces, and 5. Spelling (write the sounds you hear to represent the word).
- Canadian Coins: practice naming coins (penny, nickel, dime, quarter, loonie & toonie), talk about the value of each coin (using real money), and role play using money to buy toys etc.
- Time: Sequencing events and exposure to measuring time (clock, calendar...).
- Number Sense: Numbers larger than 10.
